Pricing & Billing Policy

Vernon Health charges are the same for all patients, regardless of insurance status.

While Vernon Health has contracted rates with many insurance carriers, the patient is responsible for any portion of the bill not covered by their insurance plan. This excludes any contractual discounts between Vernon Health and the insurance provider.

PricePoint
A public pricing portal where you can review standard charges for services at Vernon Health and compare costs across Wisconsin healthcare facilities.

Charge Transparency & PricePoint Overview
How hospital charges are set, what they mean, and how to interpret the data found in PricePoint.

Vernon Health Price Estimator
An interactive tool that lets you calculate your estimated out-of-pocket costs for common procedures based on your insurance coverage and plan benefits.

Many surgical procedures at Vernon Health are performed by surgeons from Gundersen Health System (Emplify). These two organizations are separate billing entities and may not have identical insurance contracts.

  • Vernon Health bills for the facility and surgical procedure

  • Gundersen Health System bills separately for the surgeon’s services

Patients may receive separate bills from each organization. Always verify your coverage with both to avoid unexpected charges.

Insurance Coverage & Accepted Plans

At Vernon Health, we work with a wide range of insurance providers to help make care more accessible and affordable. Your out-of-pocket costs may vary depending on your specific plan, insurance type, and benefits.

To avoid unexpected charges, we strongly recommend verifying in-network coverage directly with your insurance provider before receiving services.

If you are covered by a government program such as Medicare or Medicaid, your share of the cost is determined by program rules.

If you are covered by a commercial insurance plan, your responsibility will depend on your plan’s specific benefits. Please refer to your health plan’s Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to see how your insurer calculates payments and what portion is your responsibility.

For help understanding your coverage, consult your insurance company directly using the phone number on your insurance card.
