FAQ

What does cardiopulmonary testing at Vernon Health involve?

Patients often want to know what to expect during testing. Vernon Health offers several heart- and lung-focused evaluations, such as heart-rhythm monitors, echocardiograms, exercise-based stress tests, and nuclear imaging. Each test uses methods described in the original copy to assess rhythm, heart function, or blood flow.

How does a Holter or Event Monitor work?

These monitors record heart rhythms over time. An exercise physiologist places electrodes on the chest, and a small battery-powered device stores the information. A physician later interprets the results.

What happens during a treadmill stress test?

During exercise-based testing, activity levels increase gradually while heart rhythm, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and symptoms are monitored. Some versions also include ultrasound imaging before, during, or after exercise.

What should I expect in a cardiac or pulmonary rehab program?

Rehabilitation sessions include supervised exercise, monitoring of heart or lung responses, and individualized education. Programs are designed to support quality of life and functional capacity in a safe, structured setting.

What is Cardiolite Nuclear Stress Testing?

Many people search for this test when looking for detailed heart-blood-flow information. Vernon Health uses a small amount of nuclear tracer through an IV to help create clear images of blood flow at rest and during activity or medication-induced stress.

Is cardiopulmonary rehabilitation available locally at Vernon Health?

Yes. Vernon Health provides cardiac, pulmonary, and peripheral artery disease rehabilitation onsite, offering patients convenient access to supervised care close to home.
