Erin Swiggum, a compassionate Family Nurse Practitioner, is deeply ingrained in the local community. Born at Vernon Memorial Hospital in 1980, Erin was raised on a small rural dairy farm in Soldiers Grove and attended North Crawford Schools. Family businesses, including her father’s tractor repair shop and her mother’s work with the postal service, helped shape her early years.

Now residing in Viola with her three children, Erin is actively involved in the Kickapoo Area Schools community. Her sons, Warren and Weston, enjoy basketball, strength training, mountain biking, and video gaming. Her daughter, Ingri, enjoys gymnastics, swimming, and children’s activities.

Erin has devoted 18 years to Vernon Memorial Hospital, gaining experience across multiple healthcare settings. In December 2022, she transitioned fully into primary care at the La Farge Medical Clinic. This marked her progression into family practice following 12 years serving as a nurse practitioner within the hospital setting.

Inspired by the approach of VMH providers, Erin pursued becoming a nurse practitioner to make a meaningful impact in her community. While much of her career focused on acute care, her primary care interests include addiction medicine, mental health, and internal medicine.

Erin’s philosophy centers on meeting patients where they are in their health journey. She focuses on guiding individuals toward sustainable lifestyle changes that support their happiest and healthiest lives. She finds particular fulfillment in caring for neighbors facing challenges or struggling with addiction and believes every step toward sobriety carries significant value.

Outside of work, Erin maintains an active lifestyle and prioritizes healthy living. She regularly attends CrossFit and enjoys trail running in the reserve.
